Mission of the Coordinating Committee of California Sections 

The purpose of the Coordinating Committee is to foster closer relationships among local sections for the state of California, and to promote unified action of the local sections at the state level. The committee shall strive to stimulate cooperation at the state level on matters pertaining to the professional status of chemists and chemical engineers, the scientific and educational aims of the ACS, and the welfare of the citizens of the state of California, insofar as this welfare can be safeguarded by the chemist and chemical engineer. To these ends the committee shall: 

  • Serve as a liaison among local ACS sections within the state of California; 
  • Collect information of interest and value to members of ACS in the state of California, collect information issuing from the legislature or government agencies in the state of California, and disseminate said information to the members of ACS sections in the state of California 
  • Examine possibilities for closer inter-section cooperation on both the professional status and scientific level; 
  • Establish contacts with other scientific, professional, and related groups at thiscommittee level; 
  •  Suggest expert witnesses to testify before committees of the legislature, and submit names for appointment to public service activities.
